If you’ve worked in an office, you’ve probably experienced the politics and power struggles of food. From lunches stolen from the fridge to complaints over smelly foods eaten at desks, I’ve seen it all.
At one previous workplace, we actually had a company-wide ban on bringing in any fish for lunch, because one employee was allergic. That might seem like a reasonable request, however it turned out that people gave up salmon, tuna, and sushi lunches for nearly two years because the coworker in question merely didn’t like the smell of fish. There was no actual allergy.
A staffer of mine once in a ‘Rate Your Manager’ year-end review provided the feedback that he wished I would “eat a real lunch.” (I’ve had the habit of only eating an apple for lunch everyday since high school.)
Have an issue with one of your colleague’s lunch choices? Well finally there is a useful application for social media. People are using a Facebook page called Meal Deal Talk to rate each others’ lunches.
Here are a few examples:
“Why we split up”
“Worse car wreck than Diana”
“There should be a Bounty on you…”
“WTF is wrong with you?”
