When you make a spelling mistake in your Google search, the results usually figure out what you meant and offer the helpful, Did You Mean… results for the actual word. So, you found what you were looking for, and who cares about the lack of spelling?
Well some people do care. A common use of the search engine is to look up, “How to spell…” in order to find the proper way to spell a word. The team at Google Trends yesterday released their list of the most commonly misspelled words in Canada, broken down by province and territory.
Albertans, apparently, want to sound precocious (if they say it loud enough). The most misspelled word in that province is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. In Ontario, we can’t seem to spell colour. (I’m guessing many people use color.) For some reason in Quebec they try, but fail, to spell blueberry.
